Filing period to be on the Primary ballot runs November 11 - December 11, 2023 (6pm)


Step No. 1:  File Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer by a Candidate. (TEC Sec. 252.001) (FORM CTA)

  •  Candidates for county & precinct offices file with the Elections Administrator. (TEC Sec. 252.005(2)) Candidates for Statewide office file with the Texas Ethics Commission. (TEC Sec.252.005(1))
  •  Judicial Candidates file Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer by a Judicial Candidate and Judicial Declaration of Intent Regarding Expenditure Limits. (FORM JCTA) Candidates for District Judge file with the Texas Ethics Commissioner. (TEC Sec.252.005(1)) Candidates for County Court at Law No.1 & 2 file with the Elections Administrator. (TEC Sec.252.005(2))

Step No. 2: (OPTIONAL) File Code of Fair Campaign Practices. (TEC Chapter 258) (FORM CFCP)

  •  Candidates for county & precinct office file with the Elections Administrator. (TEC Sec.258.003(a)) Candidates for Statewide Office and District Judge file with Texas Ethics Commission. (TEC Sec.258.003(a))

Step No. 3: File Application for a Place on the Primary Ballot and pay a filing fee or submit a Petition in Lieu of Filing Fee to the party chair. (TEC Sec.141.031,172.021,172.025)
